Environmental jurisprudence in India has steadily evolved over the past few decades. While protecting and improving the natural environment are enshrined as both rights and duties in the Constitution of India, there is a need for legal consciousness which takes into account the inextricable nature of the environmental, social and economic dimensions of judicial decision-making. In fact, an integrated, indivisible approach is also a key emphasis of Agenda 2030.
But, are we attuned to this approach? Legal Eyes is an attempt at evaluating the readiness of the Indian judiciary to promote sustainable development.
